As a result of the investigation of the infertile couple, if it is determined that the woman has an ovulation problem, a number of drugs are used to stimulate ovulation in order to become pregnant. While our aim in IUI treatment is to create an egg, our aim in IVF treatment is to obtain many eggs, drug treatment doses and protocols are created according to the target, according to the patient, according to the disease. In the first stage, pills with antiestrogen effect, clomiphene and aromatase inhibitor are used to stimulate the ovaries.
Pills are generally started on the 3rd or 5th day of menstruation and are used for 5 days, no more, one, two or three pills in aday can be used according to the doctor's recommendation. Then the patient is called for ultrasonography control and the size of the egg is measured, and when sufficient size is reached, an egg maturation and injection is performed. If ovulation cannot be achieved or pregnancy cannot be achieved with these pills, FSH injections called gonadotropin are used. These injections are usually started on the second or third day of menstruation and continued until the day of egg maturation. Four or five days after the injections, the patient is followed up by ultrasonography and the size of the eggs is measured.
Before the pill or needle treatment used to stimulate the ovaries, the ovaries are checked with ultrasonography and sometimes hormone tests are requested, because treatment is started if suitable conditions are met. Along with these treatments, if there is a thyroid disease that has been shown to prevent ovulation or if there is a high level of prolactin hormone called milk hormone, drugs for these are also used.
